Invitations to Speak
At the Names Not Numbers "UK Davos" at Portmeirion from 26th-28th February, Derek will be on a panel (27th) debating "Has the Internet ended Privacy for good?" and later that day he will be hosting a topical Fringe event.
He has accepted an invitation to speak at the British Computer Society's symposium on 11th March 2010 also on aspects of the Net and its implications for the State.
He will attend at an Olympic Symposium at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver on 13th March 2010 where he will be speak about the Olympic Legacy.
He is currently considering an invitation to speak in Bahrain at a FOSI conference in April.

A Week (or two) in Parliament
Saturday & Sunday (6/7 Feb)
I watched Jack play and win 2-1 at hockey before we both legged it to Twickenham where England beat Wales for the first time for four years. On Sunday, I worked out a synopsis for my next book and wrote a documentary treatment on Music.
Friday
Feet First was my first call to have my feet done; I then had an hour with Chief Supt. Alasdair Hope before going to the Three Lakes Gypsy site. I had another hour with Cllr Roger Truelove and Angela Harrison, PPC for the constituency before spending time in Maidstone - first at the Fant Oast House which has up to ten beds to offer teenagers with mental health problems and then at the Kent Olympics Advisory Board meeting. In the evening, I hosted the RFU and the WRU councils in Parliament.

Derek watched Jack, his son, play hockey (they came second) and then as a glutton for punishment he saw a simply dreadful Charlton v Tranmere 1-1 draw before going to Jack's rugby dinner. On Sunday he attended the premiere of the Mandela movie called Invictas.
Friday 29th (Westminster)
Fourth Annual Parliamentary Rugby Awards dinner; 5 constituents were invited to be amongst the 110 guests to meet Gareth Edwards, Willie-John McBride, David Duckham, Andy Irvine, Diego Domiguez, Dennis Hickie, Lawrence Dallaglio, Ieaun Evans and Gregor Townsend (photos will be on flickr asap).
Thursday 28th (Westminster)
We arrived back at LHR just after 0700 (full report soon); Derek was in his office just after 11am. He took three constituents to meet the PM at No.10 (photos on flickr).

We attended the Internet Caucus and spoke on three panels; we left for London at 1805

We had meetings with UK Justice, State Dept., White House IT, Google, Justice Dept., ICANN & NTIA
